What is the object of the project?

The object of this project is the provision of consulting services with the aim of providing effective scientific and technical support to the Information Society in the scope of structured cabling both of the SYZEFXIS II Public Sector Network and in any other part of the public sector that is needed (National Telecommunications Network – NTN).

This project is the largest indoor cable infrastructure project in Greece and requires specialised knowledge and experience to fully ensure the perfect installation and operation of this infrastructure, combined with the utilisation of existing cable infrastructure and systems, for the smooth operation of the active equipment and applications. It is necessary to record and maintain records of measurements, certifications and information that will allow the Information Society and the operators to have complete knowledge of the cable infrastructure and the condition as a tool for making future decisions and saving resources.

What are the objectives of the project?

The main objectives pursued in the SYZEFXIS II Network are the following:

  • Development of a new open network generation in the Public Sector, based on advanced network technologies that will provide high quality telecommunication services to public bodies.
  • Provision of basic internet services (e-mail, video conferencing, web hosting, etc.), advanced network security services and voice and video services to the operators and consequently the improvement of their operation.
  • Ensuring the required network infrastructure for e-government projects.
  • Ensuring electronic interoperability between public services for fast and secure exchange of information.
  • Providing integrated services to citizens, through automated and user-friendly systems for the provision of information and transactions processing with the State.
  • The rationalisation and evaluation of the needs of Public Bodies for electronic communications services.
  • The reduction of telecommunication costs for the State and the creation of economies of scale through the aggregation of demand for related services in the Greek State.
What are the benefits of the project?

The expected results from the implementation of the “SYZEFXIS II” project can be summarised as follows:

  • The creation of a state telecommunications network, especially for the Public Sector.
  • The creation of a “broadband environment” for all public bodies and the abolishment of the “digital exclusion” that exists today.
  • The provision of upgraded electronic services to institutions and the modernization of the Greek Public Administration.
  • The reduction of bureaucracy in the Greek State.
  • Electronic communication, interoperability and collaboration between public services.
  • The most efficient and flexible cooperation between Public Administration Bodies through services such as teleconferencing, tele-cooperation, as well as the remote access service.
  • The upgrade of the working environment of public servants.
  • The creation of a “digital culture” for employees in the Greek Public Sector.
  • The easiest and fastest communication possible for citizens and the fulfillment of their requests by the Public Services.
  • The upgraded provision of services to citizens, through automated and user-friendly systems for the provision of information and transaction processing.
  • The reduction of the “digital gap” in the framework of the national and European digital strategy.
  • The utilization by the State of its investments in information and communication technologies.
  • The saving of resources for the Greek State, through the intended “aggregation of demand”.
