More than 2,9 million beneficiaries were granted more than 500 million Euros under the Market Pass program implemented by Information Society S.A. Having the know-how and experience from previous equally demanding programs such as Freedom Pass, Freedom Pass Data, Digital Care I and II, Fuel Pass I and II and Power Pass, Information Society has successfully taken another important digital action, the Market Pass which strengthens the beneficiaries for the purchase of goods – mainly food – for a six months period of February – July.

According to the statistical analysis, 2.2 million beneficiaries chose to deposit the subsidy in a bank account, while around 645,000 chose to issue a digital debit card for their purchases. Respectively, 365 million Euros were deposited in bank accounts, while beneficiaries who chose the virtual card were given a total subsidy of 145 million euro.

The project was announced by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis last December. The submission of applications by the beneficiaries took place between 21 February and 15 March 2023. On the occasion of the successful completion of the program, the CEO of Information Society, Mr. Stavros Asthenidis stated: “Once again all of us in Information Society have worked together to implement a demanding program like Market Pass. To make clear that the digital transformation is the catalyst for social progress when technology is used as a ‘public interest instrument’. All these aid actions are focused on the citizen. Thus, we managed to complete the Market Pass project with speed, consistency and transparency, allocating to approximately 2,900,000 beneficiaries of the program more than 500 million Euros”.
