A very important project that aims to improve the daily lives of people with disabilities in our country, is being implemented by Information Society on behalf of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The “Personal Disability Assistant” is implemented and funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Program “Greece 2.0” and provides the opportunity for disabled people to be supported in their daily lives by one or more personal assistants, depending on their needs. The pilot program shall be implemented in two phases with a selection of 1,000 people from the Region of Attica and another 1,000 from other regions of the country in 2023, in order to expand the scope of the service throughout the territory in 2024. The project is very demanding, as it is the first time in Greece that such an action is implemented, while the degree of complexity is increased by the presence of several involved public bodies and representatives of the social partners.

The project undertaken by Information Society concerns the provision of specialized advisory support, as well as the management, monitoring and active coordination of all actions necessary for the completion of the pilot phase of the program. The purpose is to immediately identify any malfunctions that could impede the smooth completion of the pilot phase and to coordinate communication between the bodies concerned. The pilot program is funded with 41 million Euros from the Recovery and Resilience Fund. As of 2024 and with the extension of the service nationwide, its financing will be provided through the NSRF.
