The 39th Cross-party Committee (CPC), with its new composition, was held yesterday in a climate of consensus on the implementation of the “SYZEYXIS II” project, as a project of significant economic and technological value, of the Ministry of Digital Governance, marking its smooth progress towards the signing of contracts.

The meeting of the Cross-party Committee concerned the approval of the tender procedure conducted, the award of the project “Security of the Central Infrastructures of SYZEXIS II”, as well as the approval of the draft executive contract. This project will provide all the basic equipment and services necessary for the secure operation of the SYZEYXIS II Network, which will form the backbone that will interconnect the public sector information systems and provide the necessary infrastructure to ensure interoperability between them.

The meeting was initiated by the Minister of State and Digital Governance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Chairman of the Committee, presenting briefly the current status of the project and the necessity of its implementation, while Mr. Dimosthenis Anagnostopoulos, Secretary General of Public Administration Information Systems and Deputy Chairman, noted the necessity of the effort to be made by all stakeholders in order to accelerate their actions for the implementation of the project.

Mr. Asthenidis, CEO of I.S. SA, accompanied by the team of the company that monitors this project, stressed the importance of SYZEYXIS II, both for I.S. SA and for the Greek State. This was followed by an interactive discussion between the members of the Commission and the present executives from the I.S. SA and the G.S.I.S. on the agenda items and in the end the Commission unanimously came to the following conclusions:

  1. Approval of the conducted tender procedure for the Subproject “Security of the Central Infrastructures of SYZEXIS II” of the Project “SYZEXIS II – Security / Telephony / Teleconferencing / Wiring Infrastructures”.
  2. Approval of the award of the Subproject “Security of the Central Infrastructure of SYZEYXIS II” of the Project “SYZEYXIS II – Security / Telephony / Teleconferencing / CWiring Infrastructure” to the successful bidder “OTE SA – SPACE HELLAS SA – UNISYSTEMS SA”.
  3. Approval of the draft executive contract for the Subproject “Security of the Central Infrastructure of SYZEXIS II” of the Project “SYZEXIS II – Security / Telephony / Teleconferencing / Wiring Infrastructure”.
  4. The legal continuation of the procedure by the Information Society S.A. for the above project.

The next step is the approval of the draft contract for the above Subproject by the Court of Audit and then the signing of the contract by I.S. SA and the Union of Companies “OTE SA – SPACE HELLAS SA – UNISYSTEMS SA”, thus marking the first signing of the contract for the SYZEYXIS II project.

With the completion of SYZEYXIS II, more than 34,000 buildings housing public institutions will have upgraded telecommunications services, with a drastic increase in internet access speeds, thus offering even more and better services to the citizen. At the same time, for the first time the Greek State will know with absolute accuracy how much money it spends on the communication needs of its institutions (fixed, mobile telephony and internet).
