ΚΕΠ Plus

KEPs are constantly being upgraded to keep up with the new reality. As highlighted by the Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister for Simplification of Procedures, Mr. Georgios Georgantas, it is a strategic choice for the KEPs to become accelerators of start-up entrepreneurship and business as a whole.

The action “KEP Plus”, explores the needs that exist in the business world, either in start-up entrepreneurship or in existing businesses for reliable, direct and targeted information on issues mainly related to the operation of public administration and support for business activities, in order to create a new service provided by the KEPs, the most reliable institution in the history of the Greek Public Administration, with a network of 1,060 service points.

In this context, under the guidance of the Deputy Minister for Simplification of Procedures of the Ministry of Digital Governance, Mr. Georgios Georgantas and implemented by the Information Society SA, a series of meetings and dialogue with the market throughout Greece, involving young entrepreneurs, local authorities and chambers of commerce, in order to identify their needs and promote similar solutions.

Panel discussions have already been held with local self-government bodies and local chambers at Athens, Thessaloniki, Drama, Kilkis, Kastoria, Ioannina, Trikala, Archaia Olympia, Nafplio, Sparti, Chania, Rethimno, cities that have different characteristics from each other, in order to outline an initial picture around the infiltration of entrepreneurship at regional level, identifying specific tools that may be needed. At the same time, a survey of 50+ start-ups was conducted in order to identify the key points for strengthening entrepreneurship through the use of citizen service tools, with the cooperation of renowned organizations with a significant presence in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Further to these discussions, round table discussions were organized in Athens and Thessaloniki with the participation of specialized academics, representatives of organizations, local authorities and chambers, representatives of the start-up entrepreneurship ecosystem, multinational consulting companies and representatives from organizations with significant similar activities.
The first results of the discussions in these cities will be presented in the presence of the Minister of State for Simplification of Procedures, Mr. Georgios Georgantas, tomorrow at an event at Athen’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

In addition to the KEP Plus action, the Minister of State for Simplification of Procedures, Mr. Georgios Georgantas, is coordinating the procedures for the immediate launch of a new service from the KEPs through video calls, “KEP Live”. In the near future, dozens of KEPs across the country will serve citizens via video call and the product will be sent to the digital citizen’s mailbox in the single digital portal, gov.gr, while the interconnection of the KEPs with the Greek Police Registry will also begin soon, an initiative that will enable the KEPs to check the validity of the identity card or passport of Greek citizens.
