The Digital Government 2021 conference on “The country’s digital leap continues”, which was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance, was attended by the Director General of Projects of I.S. M.A.E. Dimitris Giantsis.

At the conference, which was attended by speakers from a wide range of private and public sector representatives who are actively involved in shaping the Digital Transformation, as well as representatives of the European Union and the OECD, Mr. Giantsis, among others, referred to the catalytic role played by the “Information Society”, as the executive arm of the Ministry of Digital Governance, in the project of digital transformation of the public administration and the digital “reformation” of existing administrative structures.

On the occasion of the company’s “birthday”, the Director General of Projects of the I.S. commented on its important work “The Information Society turns 20 years old this year and with its dominant advantage of experience and know-how, as it has been supporting the Public Administration and the wider public sector in the implementation of landmark projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for 20 years, it is now on a steady growth trajectory. On the one hand, it has successfully managed the projects entrusted to it so far, and on the other hand, it has already recorded a significant increase in the number of programmatic agreements concluded with public bodies, which indicates the confidence of the Ministry of Digital Governance and subsequently of the other public bodies that choose us as their partners for the implementation of their digital transformation. The Information Society currently manages 172 public works contracts, in various stages of maturity, with a budget of around €2.3 billion, as well as state aid actions with a budget of more than €300 million. In total, the budget of the projects and actions that are managed by the company is over 2,6 billion euros”.

He announced that “according to our planning until October, a new series of tenders will follow for about 30 projects/interventions in the Public Administration, with a total budget of about €134 million”, while he revealed that “the Information Society is expected to manage almost 40 ICT projects from the Recovery Fund, with a total budget of about €2.1 billion”.

While summarizing his speech at the online conference, Mr. Giantsis expressed his certainty that “the Information Society is moving forward dynamically, with steady steps so that the digital transformation of the country reaches the levels set as a goal by the Ministry of Digital Governance, while at the same time putting into practice the company’s vision to be recognized and exploited as a knowledge-centre organization, on issues related to the whole life cycle of public ICT projects”, thanked all the partners of the CTI in the Public Institutions as well as in the private market for their trust and cooperation and wished them good strength for the very interesting projects that are coming up for implementation.
