What is the object of the project?

The object of the project includes the provision of services as well as the supply and installation of the necessary software for the implementation of the National Database system and is single and not subdivided into parts, due to the complementarity and interdependencies of the individual services and actions that comprise it, in order to ensure the single functioning of the parts that comprise the project both among them and with third party systems and to achieve the implementation of the overall system to support the institutional role and responsibilities of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Support and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

What are the purpose and objectives of the project?

The operational criticality of the project is highlighted by the current inability to make immediate and rapid decisions with the ability to flexibly adjust to emerging and constantly changing emergency situations. Besides, the perception and awareness of the situation of an emerging crisis in the country in real time and the coordination of the forces operating in different areas of the Greek territory at an intersectoral and inter-ministerial level are an imperative need and a technological challenge.

What are the expected benefits of the project?

As results of the project implementation, the following are expected to be achieved:

  • The increase of the country’s information capabilities through the acquisition of information and its management in real time from the entire Greek territory;
  • The utilisation of all available resources of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and other collaborating bodies, with the ultimate aim of creating an innovation system, which will have as its primary factor the minimisation of the manpower needs and the transfer of information in real time to the decision-maker, where required.
  • The increase of the capacity to design, produce and utilise in Greece systems and applications in an artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies environment;
  • The upgrading and utilization of the existing infrastructure of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, so as to serve the direct transmission of information from all over Greece to a central hub of operations.
  • The digitization of Public Administration, through advanced digital technologies, increased cooperation, coordination and synchronization of the competent authorities, in real time and on a 24-hour basis for the entire Greek territory at an interdisciplinary and inter-ministerial level. This project will transform Greece into a digitized modern society,
  • The strengthening of methods and the support of decision-making, in particular in the field of Civil Protection, relating to both prevention and rescue, through the implementation of this innovative system, which will provide live data to the competent authorities.
