Information Society has the leading role in the implementation of “Greece 2.0”, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which includes digitization actions that reach every aspect of the economy and social life. The portfolio of projects to be implemented includes, inter alia, the smart cities program, with a budget of 90 million Euros, the development of Business Intelligence solutions (23 million Euros), the creation of a single digital platform for serving citizens and businesses (74.4 million Euros), the development of the Capital Market (15.6 million Euros) and the new system of public procurement (25 million Euros).
In the field of Health, Information Society promotes, among other things, the digitization of the medical records of the Public Health System with a budget of 119 million Euros and the extension of the National Telemedicine Network with a budget of 30 million Euros. At the same time, the modernization of the agri-food sector is being promoted with actions for its digital transformation with a budget of 58 million Euros. The exemplar e-Justice project has a budget of 196 million Euros. The digital transformation projects of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are expected to give a significant boost to the country’s diplomatic services and include programs with a budget of 60 million Euros, while the digitization of the files of Shipping, an extremely important sector of the Greek economy, will be implemented within the framework of a project with a budget of 5 million . Euros.
For small and medium-sized enterprises, the relevant action has already been taken with a budget of 440 million Euros, while for tourism, 20 million Euros shall be budgeted. The prospects given by “Greece 2.0” to telecommunications and digital technology are particularly great, where projects such as the installation of fiber-optics in buildings, the development of respective networks to cover island areas, the expansion of the national telecommunications network and the hybrid Government Cloud will be implemented with a total budget of over 630 million Euros.
