What is the object of the project?

Cyber risk management is a dynamically changing process; it is constantly evolving and changing according to the relevant threat environment. Looking at the evolution of the Cybersecurity environment over the past ten years has clearly taught us that there is a need for a holistic, prevention-focused approach in order to optimize cyber resilience for organizations.
All Cybersecurity measures must focus on three (3) key and critical factors :

  • The users. Users must understand and follow basic security principles, such as the proper management of passwords, exercising caution towards attached files and being able to judge which Sites look dangerous, making frequent backups and generally being properly informed in order to be able to recognize threats. Whatever tools are used, if the end user does not have the knowledge to oversee the processes and tools or cannot identify cyber threats, they are the weak link in the cybersecurity chain.
  • The procedures set by an organization. Organizations must have examined and implemented a framework for how users should deal with successful or failed cyberattack attempts. Procedures, of course, exist even at individual level, for example the proper management of Passwords, secure destruction of sensitive data, the actions one should take to secure their personal data and several other issues that should be considered. Even the training of the users themselves or of the members of an organisation is part of the Cybersecurity procedures.
  • Technological infrastructure. Technology is necessary so as to give organizations and individuals the tools they need to protect themselves against cyberattacks. The main entities that must be protected through technological tools are: Endpoints (terminals), Smart Devices and Routers , the network as a whole and the Cloud.
What are the purpose and objectives of the project?

As a key component of the strategy to shape Europe’s digital future, the recovery plan for Europe and the EU strategy for Security, the strategy for cybersecurity will strengthen Europe’s collective resilience towards cyber threats and will ensure that all citizens and businesses can fully benefit from reliable services and reliable digital tools.
Whether it is about connected devices and the electricity grid, or the banks, airplanes, public administrations and hospitals that Europeans use or are served by, they deserve to do so being assured that they will be protected from cyber threats. In this context, the EU Strategy for Cybersecurity has been established to enable the EU to strengthen its leadership as regards the international rules and the international standards in cyberspace and to intensify cooperation with partners around the world to promote a global, open, stable and secure cyberspace, based on the rule of law, the human rights, the fundamental freedoms and the democratic values.
Respectively, the Ministry of Digital Governance shaped the National Strategy for Cybersecurity and business continuity by outlining :

  • The principles and the vision for the development of the National Strategy for Cybersecurity.
  • The Strategy development Methodology.
  • The operation of the National Cybersecurity Authority.
  • The governance system.
  • The safeguarding of critical infrastructure.
  • The optimisation of the incident response.
  • The capacity building and the promotion of information and awareness raising for all stakeholders.
