What is the purpose and object of the project ?

The purpose of the action is to upgrade the “smart readiness” of the country’s existing building stock through the creation of modern digital infrastructures that will facilitate the transformation of buildings into “smart” ones as well as their interconnection with smart meters of utility networks.

In particular, the objectives of the Program are defined as follows:

  • Promoting of very high-speed broadband services penetration, a sector in which Greece ranks last among the EU member states.
  • Preparation for the installation of utility network smart meters (electricity, natural gas) without the need for significant additional work by utility network operators.
  • Preparation for the installation and communication of appropriate sensors related to safety, control of good operation and measurements related to the environmental footprint of the main common facilities of the buildings (central heating boiler room and lift).
Who are the beneficiaries of the program ?

Eligible buildings are one-family houses and apartment houses under the following general conditions:

  • They are located within the Intervention Area.
  • They do not already have indoor fiber optic cabling.

Buildings owned by the public bodies, Legal Entities governed by Public Law and Legal Entities governed by Private Law of the wider Public Sector are not eligible and are excluded from the action.

Which is the beneficiary inclusion procedure in the program ?

In order for a building to be included in the Program, the Building Manager should follow the following steps:

  • The Building Manager shall check on the relevant website of the Program whether the building is located within the intervention area.
  • As long as the building is within the intervention areas and is eligible, the Manager can be informed of the Installers who are registered in the Register of Installers of the Program and work in his area as well as their contact information.
  • The Manager shall contact the Installer of his choice, who visits the building, identifies precisely the work to be performed and submits his offer to the Manager.

After acceptance of the offer by the Manager, the installer undertakes to submit a Voucher application, as described in detail in section 12 of the Program Guide.
