What is the object of the project?
Independent living is a fundamental right of persons with disabilities and an obligation of the State according to the country’s Constitution and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with particular emphasis on personal assistance.
In the above context, a pilot testing of the help of the Personal Assistant for independent living, enables each beneficiary Person with a Disability, to be supported in his/her routine and to be helped to develop the necessary skills for his/her daily needs, depending on his/her functionality and his/her social and personal factors and work status. By training the target population to live independently providing appropriate personalized support services, the Independent Living Personal Assistant project aims at:
- improving the functionality of the target population;
- implementing an effective deinstitutionalization policy and preventing institutionalization;
- enhancing social inclusion for all beneficiaries, so as to ultimately limit the number of people who will need future welfare support, as well as the intensity of that support;
- improving the employability prospects of the beneficiaries and the relatives of the beneficiaries. Personal assistance creates employment for others and enables people with disabilities to be active members of society, including working in the open labor market.
- The Independent Living Personal Assistant project also aims at: regulating the current market of carers and integrating them into the formal economy;
- improving the quality of services provided, using protocols, training and certifications.
In the context of the above, the object of this contract is the design and development of the educational material for the asynchronous distance training of Personal Assistant candidates.
