Two decades after its founding, Information Society has gained valuable experience enabling it to play a leading role in the digital transformation of Greece. At the event held on 6 July 2022 at the Benaki Museum on “#TRANSFORMING Greece”, in the presence of the Minister for Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister for Development and Investments, Giannis Tsakiris, the administration of the company referred to the achievements and the near future.

In detail, the Chairman of the company, Dimitris Askounis, pointed out that in the last three years Information Society has contributed to the development of digital services that were impossible to be achieved years ago. “We are moving forward by implementing even more projects that make the lives of the citizens and the operation of undertakings easier than ever. We are determined to go further”, he pointed out and underlined that the company today has more than tripled its staff, which consists of 200 people.

The Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, also addressed the human resources of Information Society during his brief greeting. The Minister pointed out that “We are proud of the work of Information Society”, and, addressing the staff, added “thank you for your effort and inspiration” The specialization of Information Society in IT projects became apparent during the pandemic when there was a need for the implementation of projects in just a few weeks… You deserve the very best praise…”

For his part, the CEO Stavros Asthenidis underlined that the digital transformation is a matter that concerns everyone. “It is the greatest revolution of our time, it equates citizens upwards,” he said, adding that the positive record of Information Society activities over the last three years does not bring any complacency. The State, he stressed, was re-introduced to the citizens as a pillar of stability and underlined that the transformation concerns both the public and the private sector.

Asthenidis noted that within six months Information Society will proceed with the announcement of 63 new projects and that from the amount of 35 million in 2019, Information Society is currently managing support actions with a total value exceeding two billion Euros

During the event of the company, the General Manager Vasilis Demestichas presented the large number of actions implemented during the last three years, which concern the organization of the company, the development of critical infrastructure and the support of the staff in order to complete the digital transformation of Information Society with absolute success.

The General Manager of Projects of Information Society, Dimitris Giantsis, pointed out that today Information Society manages 251 projects amounting to 2.9 billion Euros, while the 114 program agreements amount to 4.5 billion Euros Euros. Based on this experience, Information Society has the ability to meet the requirements of the National Recovery and Stability Plan “Greece 2.0”, under which it has undertaken the implementation of 55 projects with a total budget of 2.1 billion euro
