Dear Ministers,

Dear Mr. Paschalakis,

Ladies and gentlemen,

The contribution to the work of the Government bodies, such as the Port Police Directorate of the Hellenic Coast Guard, whose main concern is the prevention of safety and the protection of human life, by using modern, digital technological solutions, is not just an obligation for us, here in the Information Society, but also a strategic choice.

In this context, by delivering on behalf of the Ministry of Digital Governance 155 portable tablets with special specifications and special software for their use by the Coast Guard, we are very happy to participate in the effort to introduce innovative data control procedures to date in a wide range of activities and professionals of the Coast Guard.

We are sure that they will contribute significantly to the difficult task performed by the officers of the Coast Guard during the checks carried out, making their work more direct and effective.

The supply of this advanced equipment changes the established way of carrying out checks on the maritime activities and by the professionals concerned, and creates a fresh start in the functioning of the existing information control system with the upgrade of the solutions already adopted by the Coast Guard. With this upgrade, the controls become more targeted, simpler, faster and more efficient, while the Regional Directorates of the Coast Guard and the Central Office have the opportunity to monitor in real time all the checks carried out and to make directly any necessary interventions.

The integrated special software that accompanies the tablets, which was developed and provided to the Coast Guard by the NGO “Safe Water Sports”, as it had done with the original information system, contributes to the establishment of a single digitised system of inspections and controls, within a uniform and standardised procedure by all the Port Authorities of the country. At the same time, it offers new possibilities introduced by the digital processing of controls based on the creation of uniform, substantive and qualitative processes.

For us, in the Information Society, as a key executive agency for the implementation of the digital transformation policy of the country and the broader digital strategy of the Government, the integration of digital solutions, that promote the safety of the citizen, is a key issue.

We will be here at all these initiatives.

Thank you,

Dimitris Askounis

Chairman of the IS S.A.
