With the announcement of six more tenders by the Information Society SA for the SYZEYXIS II project, the main body of the project’s tender procedures is completed, which is the backbone that interconnects all public sector entities and provides the necessary infrastructure for their secure access to the internet at high speeds, as well as the infrastructure for the provision of advanced telephony and videoconferencing services.
It is worth noting that since the signing of the five Subprojects of SYZEXIS II on 04/07/2019, 30 tenders have been launched with a total budget of approximately €570 million, and there are still 3 remaining with a budget of approximately €15 million, which are expected to be tendered in the near future, thus covering the overall needs of the project.
Two of the five SYZEYXIS II Subprojects, with a total budget of around 28 million euro, are now being implemented. € 28 million, concerning the SIX & DC and ISP & SLA Subprojects, are already under implementation and are in the process of receiving their first phase, the “Implementation Study”, while for the other 3 Subprojects of SYZEXIS II, the signing of all the executive contracts of the 30 ongoing tenders is estimated to take place in September – October 2020.
With the small tenders announced yesterday for the “Security / telephony / teleconferencing / cabling infrastructure” sub-project, with a total budget of around €130 million, the Commission has launched a call for tenders. 130 €, thanks to the coordination of the work, the result of the very good cooperation between the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems (GSISIS) of the Ministry of Digital Governance, as the Project’s Principal, and “Information Society SA” (I.S. S.A.), as the contracting authority, the main body of the tender process of the Project has now been completed.
The scope of the tenders for the “Security / Telephony / Teleconferencing / Cabling Infrastructure” sub-project includes the provision of appropriate telephony equipment, with suitable specifications to effectively serve the telephony service needs of the installed operator, the management and support of the telephony infrastructure for the duration of the project, as well as the monitoring and configuration of the telephony infrastructure in order to ensure its optimal operation for the duration of the project as well. It also includes the supply, installation and operation of the central security infrastructure, as well as structured cabling, videoconferencing and telepresence to any operators required.
In the immediate future, by the end of May, the tender for the “Wireless Island” sub-project, which concerns the provision of the Bulk SMS service (72 million messages) by the public sector, will be announced, followed by the remaining 2 tenders for the same project, concerning mobile service packages, mobile telephone and data packages.
With the completion of SYZEYXIS II, more than 34,000 buildings housing public institutions will have upgraded telecommunications services with a drastic increase in internet access speeds, thus offering even more and better services to the citizen. It is estimated that by early 2021 the first wave of institutions will have migrated to SYZEXIS II and will enjoy the advanced services it will offer to the Public Administration.
